Community Service

Community Service at The Kineo School

One of the values of The Kineo School is Service. We believe we have a duty to positively impact our world in some way. Performing acts of service in our greater community allows students to think outside themselves, to witness difficulties that others face, to develop responsibility, and to increase gratitude.

Once a month, students in both cohorts work together to perform an act of community service. Students are encouraged to consider what matters to them locally and globally. Teachers will lead a discussion with students to determine areas of interest: animals, senior citizens, families experiencing food insecurity, or beautification of common areas nearby.

Examples of previous community service projects are:

  • Putting together crafts kits for patients at Seattle Children’s Hospital
  • Creating a mural for a bus shelter for King County Metro
  • Making toys for animals at the Seattle Humane Society
  • Hosting a Donation Drive for Eastside Baby Corner
